The Callisto Protocol Delay Rumors are Likely False
With a lot of games being delayed into the start of 2023, we’re no longer surprised when we see news that says another game has fallen victim to those circumstances. However, the rumors of The Callisto Protocol delay into February 2023 are most likely to be false and more likely to be human error.
Is there a The Callisto Protocol delay into 2023?
The Callisto Protocol is still due to be released on December 2, 2022. Neither developer Striking Distance Studios nor publisher Krafton has announced a The Callisto Protocol delay despite criticism Striking Distance faced for their crunch practices. Rumors had started earlier today that the game had been delayed until February 12, 2023, after the date appeared on a blog post describing the Epic Games Store Halloween sale. The date has since been changed to December 2 on that blog, although not before the error had been captured on ResetEra.
Aside from the fact that February 12 is a Sunday and would be an incredibly unlikely day to release a game, the error is more than likely down to a mistake in reading the date format. While December 2 is written as 12/2 and February 12 is written as 2/12 in America, it would be the reverse in Europe and it’s a format issue that has tripped up many people in the past. Epic Games has since clarified this “was an error, and we’re happy to clarify that the game is currently scheduled for a December 2, 2022 release”.
