Stray Players Mod Their Own Cats and Minecraft Pigs Into the Game
Stray has captured the hearts of many cat owners since its release last week, so much so that players have been modding their own cats into the game as the main protagonist. Some have been taking it a step further, though, modding in characters like Garfield and even creating a mod to replace the stray cats with Minecraft pigs instead.
What color stray cat would you like?
There have been nearly 80 Stray mods added to NexusMods already (thanks ResetEra), and players can have many different colors of cats. There’s a Siamese cat, black and white cats, tabby cats, white cats, calico cats, and even sphynx cats. If you want an otherworldly color, there is a purple cat too. Of course, people haven’t been stopping there. There are a couple of mods that put Garfield in the starring role, as well as one mod that turns the stray cat into a French bulldog and another that changes all of the cats into Minecraft pigs. The freakiest mod, though, changes the stray cat into an extremely deformed CJ from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Yes, really.
Changing the skin of the protagonist isn’t the only thing players have been modding for PC. They’ve added better controller mapping for a DualSense controller, shaded textures and graphics settings, Thai language, different badges, first-person mode, and different sound effects, including the Family Guy parody of Memories. Of course, mods added to the PC version of the game are done so at your own risk and may also have negative effects on the game’s functionality. Mods are not available for the PS5 and PS4 versions of the game.
In other news, the FIA will renew its partnership with Gran Turismo when the latest game is stable enough. Elsewhere, the release date for Tactics Ogre: Reborn has been leaked for PS4 and PS5 through the PlayStation Store.
