Standalone Far Cry Multiplayer Game to Feature Extreme Survival Gameplay — Report

A new standalone Far Cry multiplayer game is reportedly in development. In addition to standing alone without a single-player component, the multiplayer title will allegedly focus on extreme survival gameplay taking place in Alaska.

New Far Cry multiplayer game details

Reports from both Insider Gaming and Kotaku have combined to paint an interesting picture of a planned new Far Cry multiplayer game. Highlights of the leaks include that it will be a standalone game set in the Alaskan wilderness.

At its current stage of development, gameplay involves surviving extreme wildness and extracting with loot. Mechanics include permadeath, a backpack system, contracts, and more. Many gamers will tie these elements to battle royale experiences like Call of Duty: Warzone or extraction games like Escape from Tarkov.

Needless to say, both battle royale and extraction games are enjoying huge success right now, with the latest Call of Duty incorporating both with Warzone 2 and DMZ, so it’s easy to see why Ubisoft would want to emulate that style of play.

The standalone Far Cry multiplayer game remains “at least a couple of years way” with a “tentative scheduled release date of fall 2025.”

It’s been a big day for Ubisoft leaks, as reports of Far Cry 7 (a single-player game) and The Crew Motorfest are also doing the rounds.
