Spider-Man PC Files Contain References to Co-op and PvP
It looks like Insomanic Games is considering or did consider Spider-Man multiplayer at some point. Now that the game’s remastered version is in the hands of PC players, expect a lot of datamined information like this one found by Reddit user DniweTamp, who noted references to what appears to be player-versus-player and co-op elements. But why would these strings be found in Spider-Man Remastered’s PC version?

That the files were found in Spider-Man Remastered’s PC version has fans wondering if Insomniac did consider multiplayer features at some point but ended up scrapping them, leaving the strings in the game’s files. This isn’t unheard of and is quite possible. Others wonder if Insomniac was toying with PvP and co-op while porting Spider-Man over to PC, which then makes us wonder if Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have any co-op or PvP features. Looking back at the upcoming game’s trailer now, it does seem fitting.

We’d advise against getting your hopes up when it comes to Spider-Man 2 because the only confirmation we have from Insomniac Games is that the game will be a single-player experience. “We’re so thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet, coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 consoles in 2023,” the developer announced last year. “Just as in our previous Spider-Man games, we not only want to tell a great Super Hero story, but also deliver a compelling human story, one full of heart and humor that dives deep into the people behind the mask. ”
We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
