Mortal Kombat 12 Will Not Be At Franchise’s 30th Anniversary Celebrations
Rumors of a new Mortal Kombat game have been doing the rounds for several months, but it seems like we’re no closer to hearing anything more about the game. Mortal Kombat 12 will not be making an appearance at the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations according to Ed Boon, an event that will be marked in just three days’ time.
When will we hear about Mortal Kombat 12?
An official announcement for the next NetherRealm Studios game, expected to be Mortal Kombat 12, will “happen in due time” according to a Tweet from studio founder Ed Boon because the team will first focus on and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Mortal Kombat. This event will be October 8, 2022, and the next game announcement will be separate from the celebrations. Having said that, we might eventually get an official announcement for the leaked 30th anniversary bundle instead, which features Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition and the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie.
The next game from the studio is expected to be Mortal Kombat 12 instead of a new Injustice game according to rumors that claim licensing agreements in the latter franchise were in danger following the shift around at publisher WB Games. Since then, teases of a new Mortal Kombat game have come from Johnny Cage voice actor Andrew Bowen and NetherRealm Studios themselves.
