Metal Gear Solid Producer Teases ‘Long-Awaited’ Announcement
A tease by Konami’s Noriaki Okamura has fans hoping that the rumored Metal Gear Solid remake projects are real and will be announced soon. In a year-end message published by Famitsu (via Gematsu), the MGS producer said that Konami will announce several games in 2023 other than Momotaro Dentetsu, and that his keyword for 2023 is “long-awaited.”
Rumors of Metal Gear Solid remake projects have intensified
Konami has already indicated that it’ll be reviving its prized IPs including Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, and Silent Hill. However, there’s been no official confirmation of anything related to Metal Gear Solid yet.
In 2020, rumors emerged that a Metal Gear Solid PS5 remake is in the works along with HD remasters of 2, 3, and 4. Then, we heard reports of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater being remade, and there’s reason to believe that this one might actually be true.
Earlier this month, a Spanish website claimed to have heard from its sources that Konami was remaking Metal Gear Solid 1 exclusively for the PS5, and speculated an announcement at The Game Awards 2022, but that didn’t happen.
Given that all those Silent Hill rumors turned out to be true (for the most part), there’s a chance something’s happening behind the scenes with Metal Gear Solid. Whether Okamura is teasing something MGS related or not is anybody’s guess, though.
