Far: Changing Tides PS4 and PS5 Release Date Lands in March
FAR: Changing Tides, the next game in the FAR series, has received an official release date. The game will release for the PS4 and PS5 on March 1, 2022. Expanding on the last game’s atmospheric gameplay, Changing Tides will instead put players in control of a unique ship to explore a post-apocalyptic ocean.
The previous game, FAR: Lone Sails, was originally released for PCs in 2018. Swiss developer Okomotive later ported the game to consoles in 2019. The game put players in charge of a land ship capable of traversing vast deserts in 2D using the power of the wind.

Similarly, FAR: Changing Tides will feature an explorable and controllable ship with sails. One key difference, however, is that players will be able to retract the sails and actually venture under the waves. While the ship will use sails and oars for propulsion above water, your ship will feature an engine for moving underwater.
Okomotive’s Creative Lead Don Schmocker states that this new environment will let players discover “sunken items, images, and buildings”. These things, Schmocker says, are a core part of the FAR series’ environmental storytelling, and underwater segments will add another vertical layer of exploration.
