Mortal Kombat 12 Won’t Be the Series’ Last Game, Ed Boon Reassures
Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has said that Mortal Kombat 12 (or whatever the next game will be called) isn’t the series’ last, in case there was any doubt in your mind. Boon, who’s known for teasing and indirect hints, was talking about the franchise’s 30th anniversary with the PS Blog when he was asked what 2022 has in store for Mortal Kombat. While he couldn’t reveal anything, Boon said that he has yet to make the last Mortal Kombat game.
Mortal Kombat 12 won’t be at the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations
Fans got their hopes up when NetherRealm Studios announced Mortal Kombat franchise’s 30th anniversary celebrations. However, Boon quickly dashed those hopes when he tweeted that his next game announcement will be separate from the event. “We know a lot of you are excited about the next NRS game announcement and it will happen in due time,” Boon wrote. He made a similar statement to the PS Blog.
“Obviously…we haven’t made the last one,” he teased. “I guess that’s probably the closest I can say without revealing too much.” It has been speculated that Mortal Kombat 12 has been in development for a while and will be the next NetherRealm release rather than a new Injustice game.
