The Xbox games you should play
What are the best Xbox games of 2021? Here are some of the most popular titles released for Xbox in 2021.
It has been an amazing year for Xbox as the brand celebrated its 20th anniversary. With new installments of some of the most popular game franchises, we can say that an even brighter future awaits Xbox owners. Xbox did not only renew its long-running series like Halo and Forza Horizon, but it also gained thousands of new subscribers to its gamer-friendly subscription service. Lots of new titles are being added to Xbox Game Pass on the launch day as Xbox removes the boundaries between the games and the gamers.
On the other hand, 2021 has not been so amazing for the world of gaming as a whole. While as Xbox owners we had the chance to experience new titles quite often thanks to the Game Pass, some of the most anticipated games were delayed because of the pandemic. So is safe to say that 2021 was not so great for developers and game studios as well as gamers. That is, of course, related to the restrictions as most developers had to work from home and reorganize their routines. Yet again, this means that 2022 will be a much better year for gaming as every month of the next year is filled with -hopefully- great titles. Alongside brand new games, delayed titles will also arrive in the upcoming months.
Before we get hopeful for the next year though, let’s have a look at the best games on Xbox that were released in 2021.
Best Xbox Games in 2021
Forza Horizon 5
We were not expecting to see a new Forza game during the Xbox showcase. Though that was one of the best surprises we got this year. The latest installment of the Forza series invited us to the beautiful country of Mexico. Thanks to its new cars, immersive graphics, and a massive open world, both Forza fans and new gamers absolutely loved the fifth member of the franchise.
Forza Horizon 5 also won three awards during the 2021 Game Awards and it is the best open-world racing game out there.
Halo Infinite
The most recent entry of the Halo franchise once again allows us the assume the role of Master Chief. As he goes on a rampage on Zeta Halo against the Banished, we get to start the Halo-touched action open-world style. Even though they planned to release Halo Infinite during the 20th celebrations, it is good that they did not proceed with the plan. Because in its current state, Halo Infinite does feel complete even though it takes place on the same landscape and does not offer anything new. But never forget that a rushed game is always a bad game.
With the free-to-play multiplayer mode that even came before the campaign, Halo Infinite became one of the best FPS games on Xbox. It is not only the best Xbox game but it is also the only successful AAA first-person shooter that we got to play this year. Considering the disastrous Battlefield 2042 and Call of Duty: Vanguard with its fictional Reichs; we should probably stick with Halo for some time.

It Takes Two
It Takes Two is another project of passion coming from Josef Fares and his team of amazing developers. It Takes Two invites players to the adventure of a couple in the brink of divorce. Though ending a marriage should never be that easy as their daughter sends them into a quest of rekindling their love.
The co-op action-adventure was loved by the gamers thanks to its brilliant gameplay and level design. When you add a great amount of passion into a working formula, you get the Game of the Year award in one of the most prestigious events in the world of gaming.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
We all thought it was going to be another waste of potential like Marvel’s Avengers when they announced that a Guardians of the Galaxy game was on its way. Oh, we are glad we were wrong as the game turned out to be great.
Despite its dull gameplay, Guardians of the Galaxy is a solid combination of a great narrative, beautifully-written dialogues, and a loyal portrayal of the guardians we love. The characters react to almost everything you do and they play a crucial part in the story. And the amount of dialogues written for the game is beyond us.
They did an amazing job and definitely succeeded at making use of the characters’ potential. And we are not even talking about the music.
Psychonauts 2
Psychonauts 2 is the sequel to the first Psychonauts that came out back in 2005. The game offers an amazing journey and invites us to play as Raz after 17 years. With a new villain, new characters and maximum level of psychedelic adventure, the sequel is without a doubt one of the best games you can play on Xbox. If you are looking for some immersive action in a fictional world of madness, look nowhere else as the long-awaited sequel is just a ton of fun.
Psychonauts is also available in XboxGamePass.
Death’s Door
If you are a fan of Zelda and also enjoy some soulslike action, there is no doubt that you will love Death’s Door. Another solid title from Devolver Digital, Death’s Door wants you to put yourself in the shoes of a crow, tasked with collecting souls.
Death’s Door is one of the best games we got to play this year as it comes with great level design, smooth gameplay mechanics, and proven combat formula.
Well, these are some of the best Xbox games of 2021. Hope the next year is much better than this one as we already got our hopes up.
